I got this to carry on runs/ bike rides for utility and a little protection from wild and/or domesticated animals. I think it'll be good for that - anything bigger and I wouldn't want to carry it.
Two complaints:
1. Made in China. I expected otherwise from Ka-Bar, and the product description never mentions origins. As tiny and simple as this thing is, they could have made it in a country with a better human rights record and still kept a good profit margin.
2. Since the handle is so small, the notched "grips" around the edges aren't aggressive enough, nor do they cover enough area to really inspire confidence.
Also, the packaging came apart inside the Amazon box, which could have been a little dangerous for the post man - or the blade could have fallen out of the box.
All-in-all I'm not going to return it, but if I lose it I'm going to buy something else.
